Presentation

This program provides a visual interface to test a Wiimote with extensions.

Start by activating the "Application->Start wiimotes discovery..." option, then, for each wiimote you want to connect, press (1) and (2) Wiimote buttons simultaneously.
You can connect up to 7 wiimotes.
When you have finished connecting all your wiimotes, select "Application->Stop wiimotes discovery" or close the "finder" window.

Fake mode: You can also press "CTRL-W" to fake a wiimote detection (To test this software without a real wiimote for example).

When a wiimote is successfully connected, it appears in the main screen.
You can then right-clic on the corresponding icon to activate a contextual menu. In this menu you can:

Finally, if you press any wiimote power button during three seconds, the application is terminated. In fake mode, you can also clic on the power button of the wiimote fake window to quit.


Menu bar options

Application
Start wiimotes discovery...
This option starts the wiimotes detection.
It displays an "Always on top" dialog with an explanation message on how to connect a wiimote.
Stop wiimotes discovery
This option stops the wiimotes detection.
Preferences
This option shows a dialog that permit to manage this software preferences.
You can change:
  • Startup parameters:
    • Initial language.
    • Le "look & feel".
    • Choose if tooltips must be shown.
  • 3D viewer parameters:
    • Thresholds for the smoothing movements filter.
    • Ambient light color.
  • Audio parameters for controller window:
    • Sound capture parameters.
    • Audio file type to use for saving captured sound.
  • Parameters of the component that represent analog stick events:
    • Used colors (background, visual area, location cross, texts).
  • Parameters of the component that represent infra-red events:
    • Used colors (background, visual area, detected IR dots).
  • Parameters of the component that represent acceleration events:
    • Used colors (background, X axis bar, Y axis bar and Z axis bar).
    • Choose if G line indicators must be shown.
    • Choose if maximum values must be shown.
    • Reset delay for maximum values.
At program startup, preferences are automatically loaded from "WiimoteCommanderPreferences.xml" file of current working directory.
If this file doesn't exist, default values are used.
Each time you apply new values, the file is automatically updated.
Quit
This option terminates the program.
View
Show all windows
This option displays all windows for all detected wiimotes.
Hide all windows
This option hides all windows but the main one.
Wiimote #n
There is a submenu per connected wiimote. Its content is exactly the same than the contextual popup menu.
Please see the contextual menu description in next chapter for details.
Language
English
This option switches the application in English language.
All texts in opened windows are automatically changed to English.
French
This option switches the application in French language.
All texts in opened windows are automatically changed to French.

Contextual menu options

You can right-clic on each detected wiimote icon to display a contextual menu:

Show/Hide 3D Wiimote
This option displays a window that shows the position of the wiimote in real time 3D.
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
Events
Show/Hide Wiimote
This option displays the event viewer window for this wiimote:
  • Accelerometers
  • Buttons
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
Show/Hide Infra-red
This option displays events received by the IR camera of the wiimote (as dots inside a visual area).
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
Show/Hide Complexe Cursor
This option displays a complex cursor:
  • X and Y position on screen.
  • Left or Right rotation.
  • Zoom in function of wiimote distance.
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
Show/Hide Nunchuck
This option displays the event viewer window for this Nunchuck extension:
  • Accelerometers
  • Buttons
  • Analog stick
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
This option is enabled only if a nunchuck is detected (or in fake mode).
Show/Hide Classic Controller
This option displays the event viewer window for this classic controller extension:
  • Buttons
  • Analog sticks (left and right)
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
This option is enabled only if a classic controller is detected (or in fake mode).
Show/Hide Guitar
This option displays the event viewer window for this Guitar extension:
  • Buttons
  • Whammy bar
  • Analog stick
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
This option is enabled only if a nunchuck is detected (or in fake mode).
Show All Events
This option displays the all event viewers.
Of course it displays only relevant viewers:
  • For a real wiimote: Do not display viewers of not connected extensions.
  • For a faked wiimote: Display all viewers (Wiimote, nunchuck, classic controller and guitar).
Hide All Events
This option hides the all opened event viewers.
Fake
Show/Hide Wiimote
This option displays a window that permit to simulate a wiimote (Only available in fake mode).
You can activate buttons, use sliders to simulate accelerations on the three axes, and simulate infra-red points.
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
Show/Hide Nunchuck
This option displays a window that permit to simulate a nunchuck extension (Only available in fake mode).
You can activate buttons, stick, and use sliders to simulate accelerations on X, Y and Z axes.
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
Show/Hide Classic Controller
This option displays a window that permit to simulate a classic controller extension (Only available in fake mode).
You can activate buttons and sticks (left and right).
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
Show/Hide Guitar
This option displays a window that permit to simulate a guitar extension (Only available in fake mode).
You can activate buttons, whammy bar and analog stick.
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
Show All Simulations
This option displays the all simulator windows (Wiimote, nunchuck, classic controller and guitar).
Hide All Simulations
This option hides the all opened simulator windows.
Show/Hide Status
This option displays the status viewer window for this wiimote. This window contains:
  • General information (Bluetooth address, Battery level, IR mode and Speaker volume)
  • Acceleration constants
  • Various indicators:
    • Wiimote accelerometer enabled
    • IR Sensor enabled
    • Vibrating
    • Playing a sound
    • Speaker enabled
    • Speaker muted
    • Data countinuous mode enabled
  • LED indicators
  • Extension connected
The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
This option is available only in real mode (Doesn't make sens in fake mode).
Show/Hide Wiimote Controller
This option displays a window that permit to control actions on the wiimote:
  • Rumble On/Off.
  • LEDs On/Off.
  • Load a sound to play from a file.
  • Capture a sound from the computer microphone.
  • Save captured sound into a file.
  • Play/Stop the current sound on the computer speakers (To test it).
  • Play/Stop the current sound on the wiimote speaker.
  • Wiimote speaker volume.
  • Speaker Mute/Unmute.

The label changes if the window is displayed or not (Show/Hide).
This option is available only in real mode (Doesn't make sens in fake mode).
Show All Windows
This option displays all possible windows for this wiimote.
Hide All Windows
This option hides all opened windows for this wiimote.
