FAQ - Flash1 Formatter v2

Q: Doesn't the PSP automatically (re)format flash1 if it is corrupted?
A: No, neither Sony nor custom firmware updates nor the BSOD format flash1. Ever.

Q: So what happens when you run it?
A: First you need to unlock it, then you will be presented with a menu. Read the readme.txt for detailed information on what each option does in the menu.

Q: When I hear the word 'format', I think of deleting everything. Is this the case?
A: To some extent yes, but this formatter also restores your previous settings.

Q: Can I use this to downgrade my firmware 3.03 PSP back to its original firmware?
A: No, Flash1 Formatter only formats your flash1. This doesn't reset your PSP back to its original firmware, this only resets the PSP's SETTINGS.

Q: How can flash1 get corrupted anyhow?
A: There are a number of ways to corrupt flash1:

Q: Why not just use PSPFiler? (For Example)
A: Although PSP Filer allows you to both backup and restore your flash1, it does not format it. So, if your flash1 is corrupted and you were to use PSP Filer to restore your backup of your flash1, it wouldn't work.

Q: Will this work on a PSP without Recovery Mode?
A: No, you would need to have a Custom Firmware for 1.5 or one of Dark_Alex's Custom Firmwares.
