------------------------------
PSP Submenu Icon Injector v3.0
------------------------------

-------
SUMMARY
-------

This program will allow you to change the icons for your XMB Camera, RSS Feed, Online Instruction Manual, Remote Play, Certificate Utility, Location Free, Internet Browser, USB Connection, Game Sharing, Loading Icon, Corrupt Icon, and all Settings Menus. Change as many or as few as you like. This program is designed so you can take your current topmenu_plugin.rco and change only the selected icons so that you don't need to remake your topmenu_plugin and change all the labels. As always, I am happy to share and discuss my source with other developpers but i'm not going to release it to the public because some people take advantage.

-------------
WHAT YOU NEED
-------------

1a. A decrypted topmenu_plugin.rco for 3.0x. You can make one of these using any other xmb icon customizing program or you can browse the forums and find one.
AND/OR
1b. a decrypted game_plugin.rco from 2.50. You can decrypt one yourself with psar dumper and the 2.50 update eboot.

2. Visual Basic 6 Runtime Library. Get it here or from Microsoft.

	MY SERVER http://fast.filespace.org/dark420bishop/VB6_Runtime_Library.exe
	MICROSOFT http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7b9ba261-7a9c-43e7-9117-f673077ffb3c&DisplayLang=en

3. Icons. 64x64 pixel 256 color bitmaps with a file size of roughly 5.05 KB.

------------
INSTRUCTIONS
------------

1. Select your plugin file and select the icons you wish to inject.

2. Hit the Inject button which applies, either Inject Topmenu or Inject Game.

3. Flash your plugin file to the f0:/vsh/resource folder with your favorite flashing utility (I like flash-USB access in 3+ OE firmwares).

ADDITIONAL NOTES
----------------

-3.0x topmenus ARE NOT compatible with 3.1x firmwares. There are no programs out yet to change 3.1x topmenus.
-Any time you prepare to mod your PSP, you should back up the files you are about to change.
-The program now checks the size of the icon you are trying to inject. It will not allow you to try to use any icon over 5500. This is to try to prevent the errors users were having from using incorrectly formatted icons.
-The picture to replace the loading icon must be very small. None of the icons I tried from the fat pack worked. I had to make my own so I included the one I made.

---------------
TROUBLESHOOTING
---------------

1. Keep trying. Some systems will cause the temp.mig error a couple times before running smoothly. Try the Inject three 3 times in a row before moving on.

2. First thing to try if you are having problems is move your plugin file and all the icons you intend to use to a more simple directory path, by this I mean something like "C:\PSII". Another thing some users reported helping is putting your plugins and icons in the same directory as the program.

3. If you get the error that your icons are too big and the topmenu does not work, now you know why it doesn't work. Double check that your icons are the correct format and size, 64x64 pixels and 256 colors. The most often mistake people make here is forgetting to reduce the icon to 256 colors. Verify that your icons are ~5.05 KB before starting.

4. If you still experience problems try running in Slow mode by checking the Slow checkbox on the left. If that doesn't help, you can try checking the Stop checkbox instead. These give your computer extra time to wait for the dos programs to finish, as they are the source of all the remaining compatibility issues.

5. The last resort. If nothing else works, check the Stop checkbox. Now each time the program says "If you experience the reocurring temp.mig file error, run bmp2dat.bat in the FILES directory now.", go into the FILES directory and run bmp2dat.bat. Do this each time the program gives you that prompt. Note: if you follow the instructions in step 1 carefully, this _should_ never be necessary. However, I want to give you this option so that I can guarantee the program to work (one way or another) for everyone.

6. If for some reason you should still have problems, please contact me via personal message through QJ forums or the IRC channel in irc://IRC.Toc2Rta.com/PSP and I will do my best to help solve your issues. :)

----------------
FUTURE EXPANSION
----------------

I would like the program to be able to change the Network Update, still. However, that is one of the submenu icons which is a different size and there current exists no program to convert an icon to the proper format. At present, there exists no program to convert these sized icons to topmenu-friendly format. I'd like to contact the creator of the image conversion programs, kgsws, to see if he might make one for us. At present I have no plans to expand the program to change any of the other plugin loading icons. I just don't think it would be worth the effort. As far as 3.1x is concerned, the 3.1x topmenu has not been "cracked" yet. As soon as someone cracks it and starts publishing the icon offsets, I will start working on a new version of Icon Injector for that topmenu.
