500 gig HHD and WII

Will it work..i would like to store all my movies and play them on the wii will it work?

From what I understand, you can connect an external drive to use on the Wii, but I'm not sure what homebrew applications are compatible with USB storage. I believe if you run linux on the Wii you can use a media player which I believe has USB storage access. The only downside is as far as I know the drive must be formatted in FAT32 to be recognized, which means a drive reformat and no files over 4gb on the drive. Not worth it in my opinion.
