wii back up launcher updates

can an update brick or semi brick my wii while using 0.3 gamma back up launcher..if so do i get the option to update or is it automatic and is there an update blocker ...? thanx

sorry for sounding like a complete div but wot is in the brew pack ..a blocker or an update and this is for the nintendo wii isnt it not psp...and wot will happen if i do update and do i get the option oh and one more question can i play back ups online.....
