Internet Connection Issues

Hello all!

I recently purchased the black nintendo wii, and its a great system. I have been having issues since day one with the internet. The internet will connect but it is SUPER slow. I mean it takes almost 2 minutes just to load a page. I wanted the wii for games mainly, but also wanted to watch netflix on it. Netflix works great on my laptop, but hardly ever connects on the wii.. The internet is fine on our other 3 computers, but is horrendous on the wii. Anyone know what i sould do to check this issue out?

What router do you have? is the router firmware up to date? Sometimes that can cause issues with particular firmwares. If you said you just bought it you might also try taking it back and swapping it out. You may have got a faulty wii. (if you have a friends wii you can try?)

Do you have an old wireless router you can try? If so try that and let us know how it works. I can help you setup to use both wireless routers if need be.

Last if something is just plain wrong with the wireless in your wii or in your home / apt you can try http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... CEsQ8wIwAg this will let you plug an ethernet wire directly into your wii.

Thanks for the fast reply! Im using a Belkin N600 just like this one

http://www.staples.com/Belkin-Play-N600-Wireless-Dual-Band-N-Router/product_860997?cm_mmc=GooglePLAs-_-Shopping-_-Technology%3EWireless-n-_-860997-F7D4302

I dont have another one to try if this one is not comparable. Im not sure if its up to date, i will download the firmware if its not tomarrow and give it a shot. Il see what happens.

I also wonder if the correct ports are opened on the router? That causes my Xbox slowdowns.

On the router, open these ports.

     TCP:
     Allow traffic to all destinations on ports: 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920, 80, and 443

bkf - while that does handle your issues that can also get dangerous if you don't keep your machines up to date and/or don't have a firewall on every machine. However that is a good way to test if it is your router... i would just temp disconnect my other computers from the network if they arent fully up to date.

Technically the problem bkf is talking about would occur if your UPnP isn't on. Try turning that on and restarting the wii and router and see if that helps.

link to your routers support page (assuming link above is correct): http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/pro ... ail/p/5133

I just updated my firmware on my router and it doesnt seem to help it any! I checked the UPnP setting and it says its enabled. I suppose i could see if my Wii is faulty, il have to ask a few friends if they know someone with a wii i can borrow. Any other ideas though?

hmm. if you aren't attached to that Wii in particular you can always just go swap it out? might be easier then tracking down friends to borrow a wii from.

Strange... I tried netflix yesterday and it worked without a problem. My Wii must have a mind of its own...
