Did you set up the folders right?
In your memory stick, create a folder named PS3, then inside that folder made one called SAVEDATA (yes, they must be capitalized). Then put your save in the SAVEDATA folder. Make sure that save is properly named as well. Here's an example:
I'm stuck in *insert game here*. I have a save from the internet that is past the part I'm stuck on. To make sure it's titled properly, put your save (the stuck one) on your Memory Stick and look at the title of the folder. Rename your new save (the not stuck one) the same as the original. Also by doing this, your PS3 should create the PS3 and SAVEDATA folders automatically.
