Oh damn tough question really, loved all of the Hitchhikers Guide books, technically a series i know so sue me, and the Culture novels by Iain Banks aswell, but i guess the late Douglas Adams wins this battle :)

i refuse to answer this on the grounds that it will show just how much life i don't have. :P i read way to much and have to many fave books and authors. there are some books i have in my study (yes i have an entire room dedicated to my books :P) that i read over and over and then there are others that i collect, such as a first edition copy of The Scarlet Letter in mint condition got it for my 18th bday.

His dark materials series by philip pullman. Hands down. The books challenged my 14 year old view of the world.

Dont look at the golden compass movie.

Oh so many to think of. I have well over 250 on my iPad alone. I love Audible books. I really am lurking around the internet finding websites such as GoodReads, or just book clubs or what not. Not really for the discussion (though I really am interested in hearing what other people say about the books) I just like finding books. io9 Talks about different books all the time and the users that discuss the books are really genius's.
