There's no telling really. I don't know about his monetary situation, but a new hard drive can be purchased for about $40 (for an 80gb) to $65 (for a 250gb). I tried helping him over MSN but it seemed like he didn't quite understand the bulk of what I was trying to tell him, so I think he is just going to send it to a computer repairman for professional assistance.

I do believe that he has access to a laptop though.

Well like I said, I'd rather not make fun of him for it or anything, but it was definitely a little straining when I was trying to help him out. But just the same, I know there are things that I wouldn't know how to fix as well.
