Well, in order to get you started with homebrew, good information to start would be what version your system software (firmware) is on your psp. This can be found by going to Settings/ PSP Settings/ System Information/ - in the PSP's main menu.

Hi, just looked at my psp's firmware and I have two consoles, one version 3.30 and the other version 2.81. I have looked in the help section but still very lost

there is so much to take in! I will keep browsing and see how I get on ... !
