ok so ive made signifigant headway in hacking three systems so far thanks to the efforts of DAX and others great coding. ps2, xbox, and of course the psp. what im wondering is what should i do next? the xbox 360 looks like pretty good choice but its expensive. the ds has had various exploits and hacks. the ps3 can use linux (not reallly a hack though) and the wii if i could ever find one seems like a good bet too.

well as far as i know its a full linux os. so anything ubuntu can do it can do. im pretty sure it can run ubuntu. whats more is thats just a perk of having a ps3

also the 360 if you flash the dvd drive can play backed up dvds ::cough:: piracy ::cough::

I'm not too sure how far the 360 is in hacking and stuff, but if you can get to emulators and playing ISOs sooner, then thats cool :D.
The Wii, idk it would have some neat stuff I guess but I'm not sure how much better homebrew can get since most of the games use the basic motion sensor thing as it is.

you can flash the dvd drive. it involves opening a 360 though. which is blasphemous if your warranty isnt up....

Yea...ps3 doesn't have like any homebrew. Well at least from what I know. But I was using linux on my friends ps3 (yellow dog linux, linux distro ported to the ps3 so I don't even know if you can fully run regular distros like ubuntu strait off the ps3) and it was nothing special. Just the same as running it on the computer but without a printer :p and slower internet.

But on the 360 you can play backups, which is mostly the most popular "mod". Theres not much in the way of 360 software mods that I know of, mostly hardware. And well...you'll have to talk to brent about the Wii. I know it can play backup games and the ps3 is coming out with an iso loader or something like that soon. But well....lets just say you probably won't be buying tons of blueray discs anytime soon to burn copies on your blueray burner ;)

I think the PS3 can also be hooked up to a printer and print something lol.

The Wii and DS are really the only "hackable" systems on your list. All you can do with the 360 is play backups. Can't really do anything with the ps3 yet.

The Wii has all kinds of hacks that have been released recently. The only problem is for these hacks you need a copy of Zelda. I believe a backup copy works. And of course, you need it chipped which on current Wiis is a harder install than the older Wiis.

The DS pretty much does everything the PSP does, just on a smaller screen with less resolution.
