Yeah, then something goes wrong and you have a bricked psp... pandora will never die for 1 and 2k models and development shouldn't stop for 3k.

On the other hand this is groundbreaking if it does work for the 3k models. Personally don't really need the mic in a psp anymore since I have an iphone with skype so no 3k for me, but there are lot of people out there with 3k's and homebrew fever.

Oh, yeah. I'm on the same boat. I don't intend on getting a PSP-3000 but now I know if I break my 2000 model, I can go pick up a 3000 model.

I got well into to the PSP scene after HENs were needed (Pandora was all I needed, no Lumines or GTA). So, what exactly can a HEN do other than enable select homebrew. It mentioned something about partial CFW, but needed M33's word on it or something of the sort. Is this like a CFW through a memory stick using the TIFF/Phantasy/Gripshift exploit?

No, no, no.
HEN is everything that M33 CFW is except CFW has little things like recovery menu and the M33 updater.
For this TIFF exploit, you won't be able to flash, so it would run a CFW off your memory card.
We've never had to do this before.

Yeah we did. Back in the day we had to dual boot firmwares before we could actually flash over the sony firmware... I forgot what it was called.

blech.... back when i was very difficult to do things. im not getting a 3000. it just doesnt seem worth the hassle. there is no real hardware jump between 2000 and 3000. internal mic and a "better" screen?

but didnt they also make changes to the software i mean come on if we cracked through 1.50 all the way to 5.00 then what makes you think they arent going to take extra percussion to keep us from modding into the 3000 so i say just let the modders here do what they do best and we can sit back and wait till we are called to do what we do best........ Spread the word!

I'm sure the 3k will be cracked wide open eventually. And most of us here don't care cause we've been in the scene since 1.50. I remember having 1.51 because the game I bought with my psp came with the update, lol. But we've grown tired of Sony's tricks and the 3k has nothing to offer us.

But there is a new breed of future homebrew users who really only have access to the 3k, and it is for them that work must continue. Let's just hope if there's anything along the lines of pandora that is produced for the 3k that they hang on to it for the 4k/psp2.

yea... though a simple google search or wikipedia article would show them to ge the 2000 model instead.

first thing i did when i decided to get a psp was go on wikipedia to learn if it was worth buying. big section about how the homebrew is coming.

That was dualbooting. With this, it'll be complete custom firmware and you would never have to use the official firmware ever again.
