Can someone update me?

Hi i haven't been in the whole psp scene as much as i used to be lately. could someone can fill me in?

my first question is what is the latest cfw for the old first generation psp?
also does the latest cfw work with emulators such as gpSP - Kai and psp psx type games?

Oh and also where can i find the latest cfw and how would i update my psp? Time away from being in the scene tends to make you forget things

my current firmware is 3.80 M33-5

The newest custom firmware is 5.50 but it's advised to use 5.00 M33-6 because it's more stable and has all of the same features and for the most part, is safer.
It's amazingly simple to update your firmware. You should be able to change some settings in your recovery menu to have an M33 update through your XMB that you can then use to update your PSP.

eh 5.50 gen d-2 is stable now, and it can run games that need a newer version; it automatically patches them without you having to do something...

You can do that on 5.00 M33-6, also. Anything GEN can do, M33 can do.

and they're both compatible with emulators and psp psx?

thanks guys. it is a shame that they came out with the PSP go and that the psp scene dropped dramatically. or am i seeing things wrong?

Nope. That's how it happened. (Even though after the PSP Go was release, in Japan, they had the most sales ever. Even more than the DS consoles.)
It's just that people who play the PSP now are doing it for the games, and not for the homebrew and people who did the hacking moved on.
