with a battery (pandora or datel) and the magic memory stick you can put a custom firmware on your psp.

you need the battery and memory stick on EVERY psp. There are plenty tutorials on how the memory stick is made... there's even a tutorial on our very own forums! Cool huh? [/sarcasm]
If you don't have access to another psp with custom firmware already on it then search for the total newbie installer, download it, and follow the onscreen directions when you run it.

I'm trying to downgrade from OFW 3.90, all I need is a pandora's battery, and don't need the memory stick at all?

Why would you think you could do it without a memory stick? How else would you get files onto your psp?
