Description:
It's time for all you Sam Carter fans to come out from under the bed and get a new homebrew game! The Underminer has just released his first homebrew game for the PSP, a game that he has been working on for no less than 7 months and it's a Splinter Cell clone called Special Operations. 7 months may seem like a very long time to be developing a single homebrew game, but this game has quality that shines all the way through the game. From graphics to controls, to AI, to gameplay and the easy-to-use level editor - the Special Operations beta has it all. If you like Splinter Cell, you won't be able to put it down.
However, being a beta there are a few bugs that you may find in the game. Here's a list of all known bugs:
* Sometimes the empty blocks in a level get corrupted, becoming solid so that the player can't walk trough them. This can be solved by pressing circle over the blocks so that it will be reset to an empty block. You can identify these corrupted blocks by looking at the 'solid' status indicator at the bottom of the level editor screen.
* Memory Issue. Due to a bug in luaplayer, it is impossible for the game to clear memory. This means the memory will gradually run out, with an error as an effect. Make sure you restart luaplayer from time to time to refresh memory by pressing select in the title screen.
The only thing I can find wrong with this game at the moment is the speed at which it runs. It's alittle laggy even on levels, even if you increase the PSPs clock speed to 333Mhz. This lag issue is probably because of the limitations of Luaplayer, and maybe related to the memory issue, but still, I believe that this is one of the best Lua games I have ever played and The Underminer deserves a lot of credit for this! The download has been packaged in the form of 1.5 eboots, so luaplayer is not required. ven if you're not a fan of lua games, make sure you give this one a go.
