[8-bit_ninja] Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Image
Metroid, a series that is one of Nintendo's trademarks. The Prime series is a saga that goes in between the first and second canonical games. Corruption is the final prime game, and one of the Wii's greatest games yet.

Playability: The first-person controls of the Prime series feel natural on the Wii-mote. Aiming the pointer at the screen changes Samus' viewpoint, and moving the analog stick move you in any direction. The button layout is a bit akward at first, but those familiar with the Wiimote will quickly adjust. 9.75

Graphics: You might look at this game and doubt it is being played on a Wii. Retro Studios took advantage of the Wii hardware to create graphics that rival the graphics of the PS3 or 360. Seriously, it's that good. The landscape textures all look good even up close, and the enemies are all very detailed. 10

Story: This is where the game falters. The space pirates attack a training vessel, steal an organic supercomputer (they are called auroras), and attack multiple planets with a phazon-virus that corrupts all organisms. So Samus saves one planet, gets corrupted, is given a Phazon Enhancement Device (PED), then goes off to save the universe one planet at a time. It isn't really that good, Fusion was better. 4

Sound: The sound track is decent, but not exciting. Boss battle themes are epic, and normal level themes are cool. But the thing is, most of the BGM sounds like remixed versions of older Metroid game's BGM. I like the music, don't get me wrong, but it could have been a bit more new. Also, it sounds great on surround sound. There is also voice acting this time around, but it is no Metal Gear Solid. Some of the lines were poorly excecuted, but nowhere near as bad as Resident Evil. 7

Overall: This is one of those games that is really fun, but it gets a bit old. If you're a fan of the series, you will really like this. If you're new to Metroid, you may want to rent this to make sure you like it before buying. The Wii could use more games like this. Final score: 9/10[/img]
This is a sig. You may think that there is something to it, but in fact it is just an ordinary sig.
