Re: Play another ps3 over ethernet?

Right, i am at my wits end now!
i tried your advice Cypherous but nothing.
i called sony and activision (creators of Black Ops) and they said buy a cross over cable, which i did and still nothing!!!

I went: CUSTOM > WIRED CONNECTION > (Select operation mode of network device) AUTO-DETECT > IP ADDRESS SETTING - MANUAL.
I then entered:
IP ADDRESS: 192.168.0.1
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
DEFAULT ROUTER: 192.168.0.1
PRIMARY DNS: 192.168.0.1
SECONDARY DNS: 192.168.0.1

Then i went: MTU - AUTOMATIC > PROXY SERVER - DO NOT USE > UPnP - ENABLE > SAVE SETTINGS.

Still nothing works over a LAN.

On the second PS3 i put:
IP ADDRESS: 192.168.0.2
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
then i tried loads of things with the next 3, but i have kept them on 192.168.0.1 - same as the first PS3.

i am really loosing patience with this, and really want it to work before i try karate chopping the ps3!
many thanks

Re: Play another ps3 over ethernet?

you said you have a hub / router right?

Dont set the router or dns for both of them. Also dont enable UPnP. So basically set ip and subnet the way you are setting it up on both and ignore the other fields.

Re: Play another ps3 over ethernet?

if you have an old wireless router with DHCP on. Then you plug the two ps3s into it and make sure they _automatically_ got ip addresses (don't do a manual setup). Then you _should_ be able to play via LAN.
