I've been using Vista for a while and I have to say it has gotten a lot better. I just use it because personally now that I use it day to day, it is more simple. It looks way better anyways without modifications. Besides, I can do anything that I did in XP in Vista perfectly fine, that and I can play new PC games online :p

So no, XP is not better than Vista in any use. I'd like to see someone post legitimate technical information stating why XP is better than Vista and more easy to use in those instances, in any instance. Sure maybe Vista's "security" as yall put it is worse but you don't even need a AV in windows if you can surf the internet or whatever you do wisely. I don't even worry about using an AV when I use XP, and it doesn't even have windows defender. But XP with no AV or no background apps running does provide some great performance if your doing anything that is memory intensive. I think it is a draw for the things I do on it.

Mac is just for artwork applications anyways :p Nothing I'd be interested in. If I wanted an OS that doesn't get many viruses than I would use linux, which I already use. Also about what roxfox posted a link to ubuntu, ubuntu isn't the only free linux distro. Actually it's hard to find a distro that costs money. Just go to distrowatch.com if you want to find a good linux distro that matches your needs.

I think that Macs are actually better, but since less programs are designed for them, they are less commonly used.

I love AMD. So in my preference a good one would be like a AMD Athlon 64 X2, any speed that you want. But it just depends on what kind of socket is on your motherboard. The only way to tell you a good processor is if we knew what kind of zif socket your motherboard has ;)

Try using PC Wizard 2008. Or you can run CPU-Z, run the validation tool and give us the link to the web page.
