Maybe the plastic bit on the UMD is pressed in and makes a noise when teh UMD spins. I have that problem with some of my UMDs.

Well i tried cleaning it with a qtip but what is wrong with the psp is that the laser isn't reading the disk.
OK try to follow what i am writing and have your psp on when doing this
TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK IF YOU DO IT CORRECTLY NOTHINNG BAD WILL HAPPEN TO IT OK

1.) open the umd slot just like you will nomally do when inserting a umd disk
2.)face the screen of the psp toward you
3.)somewhere at the left side of your psp will be a big oval/circle where there is a small button press it down
4.)if is normal it will show a red lasertrying to read a disk that is supposed to be there

THE RED LASER DOES NOT APPEAR ON MY PSP AND I TRIED TO OPEN IT BUT I CANT SINE I DONT HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS I JUST NEED SOME ONE THAT KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS.

Don't worry about trying to see the laser... i've taken my psp apart numerous times and know the parts inside out and can verify that i still can't see a laser on both of my working psp's...

My first question... Have you made any mods to your psp casing?
cause i know when i swapped my casing i had to fidget around with the umd door a bit before it read properly (it was also making the same noise your describing)

My second question... The little nub that you press in to make the drive start up, does it make any noise while your pressing it or does it only make the noise when a umd is inserted?
If it makes noise when your pressing it, check to make sure theres nothing gunked up in the gears. If it only does it when there is a umd inserted make sure the umd your using isnt cracked itself and double check to make sure it catches the circular slot that sits inside the middle of the umd when you close the door.

If you need a troubleshooting guide you can check this one out...

Report back with your findings so that i can assist you further.
