If i buy a new psp from best buy?

Can I install custom firmware on a psp if i purchase a new one from best buy.

Yes most likely you can:

if you get 1.50 you've struck gold, but that is not likely

if you get higher than 1.50 but lower than 3.51 you can use the downgrader to get to 1.50 in which you can update to CFW

if you get 3.51 or 3.52 which is not likely you're f**ked

Does bestbuy have all the psps out so you can look at all the boxes?

No, at least not the one here. They have them in a glass case and just hand you whatever they want to. More then likely if you buy a new one it'll be 3.50 or higher. Possibly could be 3.50 but I wouldn't take the chance. Just buy a used one from game stop, they let me turn all of the used ones on and let me pick whichever one i wanted to.

i got my PSP from gamestop but they didnt let me turn it on and then he gave this speech on how homebrew is illegal but what staxx said is still your best bet

lol I guess the guy I talked to didn't know what homebrew was. All i said was that I was looking for a specific system software version and he let me at um. What can I say, I'm a very persuasive talker lol.

At my best buy all of the psp boxes are out and you can read the number on the side, and also they have a couple of test psp's and they are most times under 3.40.

basically swats97 just go to the game stores around you and see whch store lets you see more of the psp, gamestop/EBgames is your best but if you buy used kuz they always have they're useds out

yup yup i wouldn't really expect to find a 1.5 though because alot of people that get a psp the first thing is that they update them
and buy a used copy of lumines or gta liberty city stories unpatched if you want to do cool stuff anybody remember when its unpatched???

You can go to ebay but theres a small chance that you'll find a psp that runs on 1.5 or TA-O82 that has 3.03.
