Just great. (5.00 woes)

So I get the new Monster Hunter and Phantasy Star Portable. I try to play them; and they crashed out to the menu. I figured this was because I was on 3.90 M33-3, so I updated to 5.00 M33. Now they still won't work, but also most of the PSX games I had previously have stopped working, and the ones that do only start up occasionally. I also cannot bring up the pops menu by holding down R. What's going on?

Actually I think the problem with the PSP games is that there is no UMD in the drive. Hehe. Could this be the problem with the PSX games as well? THe ones I have that are properly converted that I downloaded off the net work fine, but the ones I made myself dont. What do I set it to in the XBM CFW menu to set it to UMD-less play?

EDIT: Can Sony detect all the CFW stuff going on on my PSP when using it online/playing it online?

No, PSX's are eboots. Totally independent.

Sony NP9660 Works for everything.

No more than they care.

Why does the pops screen not come up when I hold down R? It worked with 3.90 M33-3. Is it because I didn't update my pops when I updated the CFW?

You would need to get the updated version of POPs for 5.00+ firmware. I had to do that when I got 4.01

Is the popsloader plugin in game.txt?

I got it working what I was doing wrong was I hadn't updated my pops folder along with my CFW. Thanks DMC.

Now I got a new problem. I am trying to get CFW running on my mates slim but I think my Orange Datel Tool battery is dead. (when I plug it into the psp with the mains in the battery symbol doesn't come up; neither a flashing or stationary one). But Amazon.co.uk won't ship to the Republic of Ireland because of some embargo sh*t, so I can't buy one from there, and the place where I bought mine was sold out and now the product has been removed completely from their website!

But I hear there is a new blue battery out, that was supposedly able to crack the 3000, but isnt, but can still crack the 2000. Is this true? Should I just buy that then? Anyone know where these would be best to buy from?

Just softmod your battery.

I think the Lite Blue Datel Battery made for the 3000 never got released (or had a very short release) since I've haven't seen any mention of buying one since they were told to cease. The only other ways I can think of being able to mod again is either buying a new Datel Battery somehow or doing a soft/hard mod on your battery, preferably soft since you already have a CFW-enabled PSP.

Hang on, is softmod not where I have to cut wires and stuff? Would it render one battery useless? (like, make a pandora out of it, and therefore not make it act like a regular battery?) Sorry Rox, I thought you meant opening up a battery and cutting wires and stuff.

Softmoding a battery is a reversible process. You just need a homebrew enabled PSP to do it.

And about the blue Datel battery. Last I heard they were heading into some legal trouble over the battery and it never hit store shelves.

Reversible, but do I have to open it up and sh*t? Or is it just flashing to the battery or something?

Honestly, doing a little research would make your life a lot easier...

Softmoding will not require opening the battery at any time. There's a little PCB in the battery with chips that softmoding will alter and allow you to revert the battery back by reflashing that info again.
