Help with WiiBrew Install

I have recently just purchased a wii in the last few days..

I have updated the firmware to 3.4E and now realising the potential of the console with HBC

I wish to install HBC w/tl hack.. however quite nervous to the fact that i have heard i may brick your wii? is this true?

All i wish to do is have dvd playback and launch backup games as im prone to scratching discs lol.

Is 3.4E firmware safe for install and use for these applications?

Anyway, you are NOT going to brick your Wii installing the Homebrew Channel. After you have the Homebrew Channel installed you can use it to boot homebrew, including the DVDX installer which enables DVD playback. After DVDX is installed you can use a program called MPlayer to watch DVDs.
