:D Cool +16 Rep!
BKF, by using OSX or Leopard, you severely limit yourself to the amount of software available for yourself.
Once anyone understands that, the next thing they need to do is look at the hardware.
Compare a PC made from any brand with the same spec's as an Apple-made computer.
You'll notice that for the same specs, Apple's prices are usually 2 to 3 times more than they should be.
Do yourself a favor and buy a PC. If you really want to use Mac OSX, then you can dualboot. There's never a reason for paying $1,400 USD on a computer that you can buy from someone else for ~$300 USD.
My mother just got a new Compaq. It's very nice and it was only $300 USD.

@DPM:
Those are Windows drivers. I doubt you can use them on OSX.

Oh I see... I didn't realize so much that they needed to be that different. I read this thinking that the drivers were needed for Windows from bootcamping the computer - not that OSX needed it. Guess that puts things into perspective.

Keep in mind for snow leopard you need a mac with an intel processor.

And as with most computers, if you want a mac, then RAM RAM RAM! Any Mac that is used for graphics and video editing is probably maxed out with RAM... besides the fact that if you want your Mac looking pretty you need some RAM to keep that going.

Keep in mind that I probably won't buy a Mac ever... but if you are looking at getting into design or whatever, you gotta use what the industry uses and that's Mac. Might as well get used to it. If you are just dabbing a little bit into it, then follow your heart. If you think it's worth buying a computer just for the small hobby, then pick one up especially since it seems you can get one at a steal.

And BKF, I have an E1505 as well. You have some good linking for hackintoshing? I got it going on a spare drive I have, but the network card wouldn't work and if I can't get internet working on this then what's the point?!

Why do you have to use a Mac? It's no industry standard. Only the programs like Photoshop are. Everyone who uses Photoshop knows that you can use it on a PC or a Mac and it works exactly the same way.

Well I'm not trying to stick up for Mac's at all, but what brent said is partially true. We use a mac at my church to do the service with and I have to say propresenter for ppt's is great. We couldn't really find a program for windows that had the features that it did, plus they [the mac's] are very quiet. I haven't really had any negative experiences with a Mac but I only use it during church for video/ppt's and I like it but I would never buy one myself or for personal usage.

fail. im sorry but MACs are way too damn over rated and PC's just(windows btw) are virus ridden. actually,MACS are now too. macs have virtually sh!t for stuff. the iphones are so held back from potential, seeing as you need itunes for it. i just wanna dump music into a folder(which you cant look through on ipod, itouch, or iphone) and go. too much special crap. and windows makes terrible stuff, like xbox(fail, and you cant deny that) xbox 360( a guy on my Dads destroyer is a comp guy. he knows more than you would believe. hes an insider for all game systems) STILLL doesnt have fixed heatsinks. 10 points to anyone who knows what the faulty heatsink does and an extra billion if u know what happens when u send it in to get it fixed!! okay. fail. and microsoft makes zune. no better than ipod. uneed a special usb cable. and microsoft does OS for PALMs which are also overrated. now. you all(most) own a psp and know how easy it is for music, how quik, and simple. no special cables. no special programs. easy.

however. i find LINUX to be a beast OS, and its free and UBUNTU is simple. you realize MAC used to be a UNIX variant just like LINUX. very similar, but now mac is its own. lame. but i suggest windows cuz PC is more versitle. and PCs typically can run linux too............ :) but its up to you, and i feel my ranting is over. quote me as you feel and opose me to show how im wrong, or ask to educate your self. i may be 15, but im not retarded.
